Public Education

Fire Station Tours
The fire station is open for tours. This gives us the opportunity to educate the public about what we do on an everyday basis, and also explain all of our equipment and apparatuses. This also allows us to answer any questions you may have regarding the fire service.

Fire Safety Education
The Harrison Fire Department is more than willing to come out and teach any type of fire or emergency situation education. Groups that use Harrison Fire Department include but are not limited to schools, day cares, churches, scouts and Industrial companies.

Fire Extinguisher Training
This class is approximately an hour to an hour and a half long and teaches the proper use of a portable fire extinguisher – putting out or containing a fire only until the fire department arrives. This class can be taught at your place of employment or at the Harrison Fire Department. You are required to provide your own extinguishers and equipment.

Portable fire extinguishers are not designed to fight large fires, but can be useful for small fires. It is important to know how to operate a fire extinguisher. For more information click HERE

Juvenile Fire Setters Program
This program is intended for juveniles who have been caught playing with fire. The length of the program is dependent on the severity of the case. Many parents have their child/children go through a fire setters program for preventative measures. If you have any questions, or would like to have your child/children go through our juvenile fire setters program, please call Amanda Reardon for more information.

Reflective Address Sign
Address Signs
Make your address more visible. You can order a reflective address sign either horizontal or vertical. If your residence is on the opposite side of the street as the mailbox, we can add arrows to indicate you house. Signs are $10 and can be purchased at the fire station on Harrison Ave.

Please call or email Amanda Reardon if you have any questions or would like to schedule an event 513-367-3710.
